The Use of De-Icing Salts in Post-Tensioned Concrete Slabs and Their Effects on the Life of the Structure

This article expounds on the problem of use de-icing salts in corrosion steel rebars bridge decks and their effect post-tensioning elements. In particular, this paper focuses structures affected by an aggregate–alkali reaction without any waterproof treatment using example one structure whose repair was carried out 2020. structure, internal stresses due to caused longitudinal cracks upper face deck, through which penetration chloride ions concentrated, causing, finally, brittle fracture bars prestressing also explains some conclusions about most probable mechanisms that resulted extraordinary unexpected nature phenomenon.
